Google Apps provides an Identity Provider that makes it very easy to use SSO with your SproutVideo Website. This help article will walk you through setting this up.

Configuring Google Apps

Step 1

Sign into your company's Google Apps dashboard.

Click the "Apps" icon.

Click the SAML apps icon.

Step 4

Click the large "+" icon in the bottom right of the page.

  1. Copy the URL in the box labeled "SSO URL". This will be needed in a later step.
  2. Click the "Download" button next to the "Certificate" label.
  3. Click "NEXT".

  1. Enter a name for your application. This is what will be displayed in your Google Apps dashboard.
  2. Enter a description for your application. This will also be viewable in your Google Apps dashboard.
  3. Click "NEXT".

Step 8

  1. Enter the ACS URL for your video website. You can find this value on your SSO Settings Page.
  2. Enter your subdomain, excluding the "https://" part, in the field labeled "Entity ID" You can find your subdomain on your Video Site Settings Page.
  3. Enter your subdomain, including the "https://" part, in the field labeled "Start URL".
  4. Select "EMAIL" from the drop down box labeled "Name ID Format".
  5. Click "NEXT".

  1. Click the menu icon in the upper right side of the settings card.
  2. Click the "ON for everyone" option.

Configuring SproutVideo

Calculate the SHA1 fingerprint of your certificate

An easy way to calculate the SHA1 fingerprint of the certificate you downloaded in step 6 above, is to use the Calculate Fingerprint tool provided by OneLogin.

  1. Open the certificate you downloaded in step 6 above in your favorite text editor and copy the all of the text.
  2. Go to
  3. Paste the text into the box labeled X.509 cert
  4. Click the "CALCULATE FINGERPRINT" button.
  5. Copy the value in the "FingerPrint" box.

Finalize settings on SproutVideo

  1. Go to your SSO Settings Page.
  2. Check the "ENABLE SSO" checkbox.
  3. Enter the value you copied from the box labeled "SSO URL" from step 6 above.
  4. Enter the FingerPrint from the previous step into the box labeled "CERTIFICATE FINGERPRINT".
  5. Enter any URL you'd like for the "REMOTE LOGOUT URL", such as your company's website URL.
  6. Click the "Save SSO Settings" button.

Now, when you attempt to access your video website, you will be automatically authenticated through your Google Apps account!
